What Exactly is Model United Nations (MUN)?

For those new to the concept, Model United Nations is an exciting academic simulation of the real United Nations. Imagine high school students stepping into the shoes of diplomats, representing different countries, and tackling some of the world’s most pressing global challenges. Through engaging debate, strategic negotiation, and meticulous resolution writing, students gain a deep understanding of international relations and diplomacy.

  • Time: We’re offering two convenient sessions:
    • Morning Session: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
    • Afternoon Session: 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM
  • Debate Topic: De-escalating Regional Conflicts and Protecting Civilian Populations – A highly relevant and critical issue demanding thoughtful solutions.

What to Expect as a Delegate:

Students will be fully immersed in the MUN experience, participating in key components that mirror real UN proceedings:

  • Opening Statements: Delegates will articulate their assigned country’s stance on the debate topic.
  • Formal Debate: Structured and moderated sessions will allow for productive discussion and exchange of ideas.
  • Informal Negotiation: This is where strategic alliances are built and compromises are forged to achieve common goals.
  • Resolution Drafting: Students will work collaboratively to propose solutions in line with UN protocols, culminating in tangible outcomes.

Investment in Future Leaders:

The cost for this invaluable experience is R289 per delegate. Chaperoning teachers attend for free, making it easier for schools to bring their students.

Please note: To ensure a quality experience and focused debate, participation is limited to 40 delegates per session. Early inquiry is highly recommended!
