Each session is limited to 40 delegates to ensure high-quality engagement and meaningful debate.
What is the Model United Nations?
The Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations where high school students represent different countries. Delegates debate global issues, negotiate solutions, and draft resolutions while developing essential skills such as:
- Public speaking and persuasive communication
- Critical thinking and research proficiency
- Diplomacy and negotiation
- Leadership and global awareness
Participation in MUN significantly enhances students’ academic portfolios and prepares them for future careers in law, politics, international relations, economics, and business.
Conference Topic
Digital Surveillance vs. National Security in the Age of Cyber Warfare
In an increasingly digital world, governments face rising cyberattacks, election interference concerns, and questions about online monitoring.
Delegates will explore:
- The rise of cyber warfare
- Digital espionage and election interference
- Government surveillance and data privacy
- The balance between national security and individual freedoms
Conference Structure
During the four-hour session, students will participate in:
- Opening Speeches
- Formal Caucus (structured debate)
- Informal Caucus (negotiation and alliance-building)
- Resolution Drafting
- Voting Procedures
This immersive experience mirrors real United Nations debate procedures.
Participation Details
- Cost: R299 per delegate
- Two educators per school attend free of charge
- Snacks and refreshments will be provided
- Countries will be allocated upon confirmation
