Durban High School MUN – 30 May 2026

Schools are invited to give their learners the opportunity to step into the world of diplomacy, global debate, and leadership at EduFleek’s upcoming High School Model United Nations (MUN) Conference at Deutsche Schule Durban on 30 May 2026. This event follows EduFleek’s established MUN conference format, where learners take part in structured debate, negotiation, caucusing, and resolution drafting in a realistic UN-style setting.

A Meaningful Academic Experience for High School Learners

Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations in which learners represent different countries and debate important international issues. Through the experience, delegates build skills in public speaking, persuasive communication, diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, and research. EduFleek’s MUN programme is designed to help students not only understand world affairs more deeply, but also grow in confidence and leadership.

For schools looking to broaden their learners’ academic and co-curricular exposure, MUN offers a platform that is both intellectually stimulating and highly practical. It prepares learners for future pathways in law, politics, business, international relations, and other leadership-focused fields.

Morning Session: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Conference Topic

Digital Surveillance vs. National Security in the Age of Cyber Warfare

This timely and thought-provoking topic will challenge learners to explore one of the most important global debates of our era. Delegates will examine issues such as:

  • rising cyberattacks and cyber warfare
  • election interference concerns
  • government digital monitoring
  • the balance between privacy and national security

This topic gives learners the chance to engage with modern global affairs in a structured academic setting while learning how different countries may approach the same issue from different perspectives.

What Learners Will Do at the Conference

At the conference, students will participate in core MUN activities such as:

  • Opening Speeches
  • Formal Caucus (structured debate)
  • Informal Caucus (negotiation and alliance-building)
  • Resolution Drafting and Voting

These are standard EduFleek MUN conference components and help learners experience the flow of a real diplomatic process, from presenting national positions to negotiating practical solutions with other delegates.

Why Schools Should Encourage Participation

MUN is far more than a debate event. It is a transformative learning experience that helps learners:

  • build confidence in speaking before an audience
  • strengthen analytical and problem-solving skills
  • learn to negotiate respectfully and think diplomatically
  • develop global awareness and a deeper understanding of current international issues
  • enhance university, scholarship, and leadership portfolios

EduFleek’s own MUN guidance also highlights that MUN encourages youth leadership, collaboration, and exposure to diverse perspectives from across schools and communities.
